Mechanical Engineer – Capital Equipment  (2) Openings

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to take customer/marketing driven requirements and convert them
    into mechanical designs from inception through field trials
  • Ability to fully document a machine including review of tolerance stack up and appropriate dimensioning and geometric definitions
  • Ability to design in AutoCAD and Solid Works 
  • Solid understanding of DFMA principles and experience with product review for cost reduction 
  • Understanding of machine dynamics and basic control concepts 
  • Ability to perform strength of material calculations 
  • Ability to work with control engineers to insure completeness of project
  • Ability to define and work to a task oriented schedule to insure timeliness of project completion
  • Ability to travel on average 5% of the time to aid service with new or problematic installations
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Work closely with manufacturing and service teams
  • 

Not a prerequisite but a Plus

  • Knowledge of pneumatic control system
  • Previous packaging machine experience
  • Understanding of Domestic and European safety directives including OSHA and CE
  • 

Education/Experience

  • BSME or equivalent with 5 years experience desired

Field Service Engineer – Capital Equipment (1) Opening

Butler Automatic Inc. has an immediate opening for a Field Service Engineer. This person will be responsible for providing support and maintenance to Butler equipment at our customer’s location.   Support and maintenance will include installation and setup of equipment, troubleshooting, training customer personnel on proper maintenance and operation of equipment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and maintenance support to Butler customers with theirequipment
  • Commission new and upgrade equipment in customers plants
  • Audit customers Butler equipment and report all repair requirements found
  • Provide written and oral reports in English in an accurate and professional manner
  • Promote service parts and preventative maintenance contracts
  • Work flexible hours to support customers service needs
  • Extensive travel  majority in the North America with limited travel to Europe and South America

Qualifications

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of PLC controls/Programming  Allen Bradley and Siemens,  computer interfaces
  • Ability to quickly identify and correct issues
  • Experience with food packaging machinery or related equipment
  • Ability to interpret blue prints, schematics and manuals
  • Computer knowledge Word, Outlook , Excel
  • 5 to 7 years’ experience in  mechanical/electrical equipment installation and service
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DMV, reference and credit check
  • Must have or obtain a valid passport
  • Must be able to pass a physical examination
  • Must be able to work with heavy loads and lift 80 pounds without restriction
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
