SP1 Zipper
The SP1 Manual Zipper Splicer features two roll positions driven by a standard Butler core roll drive system. The roll positions are loaded from the side, using minimal floor space. The standby roll splice is prepared in advance by the operator. Based on preset diameter the expiring roll will stop and the operator will need to perform a manual splice junction.
The packaging line continues to run, fed from an accumulator integrated into the splicer. The new zipper is spliced to the running web with a heat wire. The splice is released and the machine operates on the new roll, reducing waste and allowing non-stop production. The operator is provided with 1 minute of festoon accumulation to complete the splice at speeds up to 200fpm.
The Butler Zipper Splicer may be installed at any angle to the process and is optionally mounted on casters to optimize use of floor space. The machine may be rolled away for maintenance of the parent line or to be used on other lines.
