Director of Sales – Job Opportunity

Butler Automatic is looking for an energetic person to fill the Director of Sales position. This person will have international responsibility and will be expected to manage an existing sales team and long standing customer relationships. The ideal candidate will be evaluated per the following:

o   Able to understand our machines – Engineering degree or ability to absorb technical information

·        Able to operate in small company environment

o   Understands that expansion requires resources and the plans must be balanced with resources available

o   Guerilla ability to operate on all aspects of position

·        Dedicated to improving the organization, effective at doing this over time

·        Very good planning skills

·        Very good communication skills

·        Rational thinker

·        Analytic ability- needs to be able to figure out whether what we are doing makes sense, understand why, and figure out who, where, and why to go after new business

o   Should be data driven and hungry for real data

·        Understands the need for forecasting and how to create and update forecasts

·        Good negotiation skills, understands the need and desire to drive to a close rather than drive for the last penny

·        Foreign language skills are an advantage but not requirement (French, German, Spanish)

·        Packaging industry knowledge

·        Helpful to understand issues around multi-channel distribution

Responsibilities

·        Overall responsibility to manage the machine sales efforts and own the customer relationship

·        Manage the machine sales process and plan

·        Manage and develop all personnel involved in the machine sales process- regional managers, outside reps, and sales support – responsibilities include all staffing decisions, goal setting, comp plans, etc.

·        Design and manage training plans for the sales team

·        Provide regular analysis of machine revenue sources and sales trends to management group

·        Create a machine revenue plan and ensure that Butler meets it

·        Manage relationships between Butler and all customers

·        Manage the pricing and quoting process

·        Stay current with Butler competitors, communicate various competitive data to Butler management

·        Provide regular forecast to management team

·        Find and develop market information, and be the conduit for this data into the Company

·        Work with senior management to identify and develop new markets

·        Develop and maintain annual department budget

Experience

·        Capital equipment sales experience

·        Strong long term relationship management experience

·        Experience with negotiations with large companies/purchasing groups

·        Ability to understand technical and engineering issues

·        Sales management experience, able to develop and manage sales teams, comp plans, and all that goes with this

·        Packaging equipment or similar equipment sales experience

·        Financial knowledge

·        Small company work experience
